We're back! |The Origin Big Band

An evening of big band jazz standards and big band settings of songs of praise and worship, after our launch at the Festival last year.

Accompanying the soloists Unoma Okudo, Scott Rennie, Jonny Russell, and Steph Macleod, will be an 18-piece jazz ensemble - one night only!

Listen to some great jazz, and hear the singers share the reason we play it.

Tickets are available now. Strictly limited due to venue size. Suggested donation £10, but you can give as much or little as you like. If you need a free ticket, call the box office, otherwise you can book online.

NB: If the "Book Now" button is not visible, it means advance tickets are no longer available, but there will be tickets available at the door.

Lead Singer: Unoma Okudo
Unoma was born in Lagos Nigeria and was blessed to have a mother who sang and encouraged her to sing and play piano from a young age. Having moved to Glasgow in 2002 to study medicine she has since performed as the opening act for artists including Macy Gray and Alexander O'Neal and has provided backing vocals to musical icons such as Donnie McLean and Kylie Minogue and sang at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as well as releasing her own EP Odyssey in 2016. Throughout her life, Unoma has also sung in church and regularly leads worship there. Unoma is no stranger to Origin having first sung with us at Christmas 2019 and after that on many occasions, check out her own music in the Songwriter Sessions on our YouTube channel.

Lead Singer: Scott Rennie
Scott became a Christian in December 2000, a journey that started when he was 18 and ended when he was around 27. He went from an upbringing in staunch atheism to realising that if there really was a God, he could surely guide to whomever his messenger was. After a few amazing encounters he guided Scott straight into the arms of the one and only Saviour Jesus Christ. Scott joined Origin in 2011 and has been a lead singer with the Foot Stomping Gospel Band and our PRODIGAL production since 2016.

Lead Singer: Jonny Russell
Jonny lives in Tranent, East Lothian and is married with three kids. He became a Christian at a young age and despite a period of wandering he always felt that 'right from wrong' voice inside drawing him back to Jesus. Jonny grew up in a church environment and it was hard not to be involved in singing. He started performing in church events at first. Going to Holland a few times to sing in a. He also appeared twice on national TV, sang for a bit in a sixties band then joined the Edinburgh Acting School where he performed in several Edinburgh Festival shows and Pantos, twice as the Dame. He is a founding member of Origin's Foot Stomping Gospel Band.

Lead Singer: Steph Macleod
Steph is a Scottish singer-songwriter, worship leader and mental health awareness advocate. His music is rooted in the rough and raw experiences that led him to Christ; from broken family relationships to homelessness and addiction, Steph embodies the reality of God's redemptive and boundless love. From his critically acclaimed debut album "Light In The Darkest Of Nights" (2010) to his latest release, "O Perfect Father" (2021), Steph creates a unique sonic experience by blending underlying folk tones with traditional and contemporary worship infused with Celtic melodies. He has regularly featured on the BBC and UCB among others. Steph Macleod is part of the Integrity Music family.
